Have you ever had a kitchen that just wasn’t functional? Whether it be narrow cabinets, not enough counter space, or not enough drawers? Many homeowners face this issue, or a countless number of others. A great layout in a kitchen can completely change the functionality of the space. A kitchen should not be a place that stresses you out. This was the case for another one of our customers here at Cabinet IQ.
In the beautiful town of Lakeway, Texas you will get amazing views, and wonderful homes throughout the Texas hill country. Just a few short minutes outside of bustling Austin, you will be introduced to Lakeway. In our opinion, it is one of the most beautiful suburbs in the area. Our customer downsized from a larger to smaller home in the same neighborhood. Many people do this when they want a home that is easier to maintain. These particular customers wanted to move somewhere that could be made into their forever home. This particular customer also wanted an open-concept design that she could easily entertain, and have room for many guests. When she moved, the new kitchen was too small and outdated. It had very old wallpaper and dated finishes that needed to be stripped down to the bare bones. This gives our customers and designers a blank canvas to work with. The home also needed a new appliance layout. That is why we went to work to create her ideal kitchen space. Also, she decided to also have us work in her laundry room. Many people don’t realize here at Cabinet IQ, we also do bathrooms, laundry rooms, or pretty much anywhere that has a countertop and/or cabinet. Kitchens are definitely important, but other spaces such as the laundry room and bathrooms are other high traction area in any household.
We paired her with our designer Linda to start the process. The customer really loves mid-century design. She had a keen eye for natural tones. One of her main goals was to have a larger, flowing pantry throughout the kitchen. Her favorite color is teal, and so they incorporated that within the design of both spaces. She also really has an eye for design, she brought great ideas into the design process. Here at Cabinet IQ, we have a multitude of vendors that we work with for cabinets, countertops, and hardware. Each one has their own price point, finishes, and design. They ultimately decided on our Merillat Classic series for the cabinets. Featuring a maple slab door in boardwalk stain finish. The fusion door style included a vertical grain. Full overlay construction with soft close doors and drawers. Drawers have dovetail corners, undermount glides providing full extension opening. The floating shelves featured Kraftmaid Vantage maple, without a finish so that they could be custom painted by the homeowner. In the laundry room, she went with the Merillat classic series.
