Our Founder's story
How it all started
When Michael Hartel went through his own kitchen remodel, he was floored, not by the cost, but by the chaos. For someone with a PhD in engineering who had spent his career building systems where process was everything, winging it was never going to be the answer.
So he set out to re-engineer the entire kitchen and bath experience, from the first conversation to the final installation. That is Cabinet IQ, and it is the same process behind every project we take on in Portland today.
